Default 2.5 hanging throttle

The symptom is:

Engine does not come back down to normal idle speed quickly, it hangs for a 3-4 seconds after releasing the throttle. It started doing this randomly several weeks ago.

Otherwise the engine seems to run fine.

What I have done:

new IAC
New wires, plugs, distributor, ignition coil

Unplugged the computer for 30 minutes in attempt to reset it

All to no avail. What do you guys think?

Thanks

Check your throttle return springs?

If they're weak, it'll be slow returning anyway.

What year? There is a 95 and 96 factory service manual in the FAQ section. I'd look at how to set the timing on the 2.5 motor. Could be the air intake is clogged? or a vacuum leak? I think it should also tell you how to adjust the carb.

i'm starting to think vacuum leak as well. This is going to sound naive but is there a vacuum line kit for the Dakotas?

Kinda sorta - it's called "Buy some vacuum line and some clamps, and roll your own."

Or find a matching truck in the boneyard with a good set.

Just as a suggestion: If you use the old hard line to stub into some silicon or rubber vacuum line, I'd use some Automotive Goop to seal that with since you really don't want to clamp onto the old plastic and break it of fworse.
