My Dakota
I have a 1993 dodge dakota with a 4x4 46rh transmission. The issue is that it needs a new one, and I was wondering if I could put a 4x4 46re transmission in it scince they don't make the transmission or the rebuild kit unless you look at aftermarket.
Edit: I have nothing against aftermarket, I'm just trying to get my truck up and running. It's up, just not running

I second HeyYou. But I have a silly question - since it's the same soft parts in both transmissions, how can there be a rebuild kit for one, and not the other? Only real difference is the valve body (and the extra wiring for the solenoids on the RE over the two solenoids in the RH).
Look at the TransmissionBench videos on YouTube on the 46RE; the 46RH primary difference in the steps is that there are only two solenoids in a RH and the valve body is different (there are other differences, but not that make THAT much difference in the steps!)
If you were to rebuild for max life, you'd use aftermarket parts anyway; something like the Alto Red clutch packs and similar for the bands.
Of course, if you want to be easy and spend a bit more dosh, there's prebuilt transmissions available from places like (disclaimer! Local boys to me that do national work! But good boys!) PATC ( https://transmissioncenter.net/ ) for one.
Shucks, they'll be glad to sell you the parts too!
As will TransmissionBench.COM for that matter.
And many other shops; one's local to me and the other has a decent video training course on the 46RE/46RH.
