Default IAC replacement

I have a new IAC On the way, due to a rough idle in park, but not in drive with the brake on at a stand still. When I removed the old IAC, I forgot to unplug the battery.

1. Will forgetting to unplug the battery impact the reinstall?

2. Anything I should know about the reinstall and getting the truck back fired up?

thanks

Disconnect the negative battery cable, and then turn the headlights on.

Leave them on for a couple of minutes.

Turn them off, then reconnect the negative battery cable.

That's about it.

When you are ready to start the truck, just turn the ignition to on, count to ten, THEN start the truck. While you are counting, don't touch anything. That lets the PCM relearn the zero values of all the various sensors. (do this after the battery reset thing. )

I'm a caveman, I just unscrewed/unplugged the old one and reinstalled the new one (cheap Amazon thing at that). It started running better immediately. I only unhook the battery negative when I'm welding on the truck and even then I forget sometimes.

Thanks everyone. It’s idling a little better now, but just having problems in park. Likes to
