Default Code 41 and 46 overcharging

1994 Dakota 5.2
I purchased this truck a few months ago. Truck Already had a newer alternator and ECM dated 4/20 on reman sticker. I’m Getting codes 41 and 46 , battery is getting overcharged anytime the throttle is above idle It goes to 17-17.5 volts per test meter reading .My understanding is the ECM controls regulating. I’ve read posts that have said this could be wiring or the ECM. What wiring do I need to look at? Can I test the ECM myself?? Thanks!

Yep, PCM has the regulator in it. If the alt is overcharging, regulator isn't doing its job. You can go with an external regulator, or, replace the PCM......

I have no idea how you could test teh PCM. I remember someone else on here putting in an external regulator to deal with a similar issue of a PCM regulator that failed but otherwise worked fine.
