Default 3.9 Black Smoke sometimes under load and at high idle RPMS

I have a 89 Dakota, has about 40k miles on it.

Black smoke under load, rich fuel smell and when I rev it in neutral it makes a thick cloud of black smoke that smells like gas above 2k rpm or so.

I changed the O2 sensor, Temp sensor, and MAP sensor, and fuel pressure regulator.

I ordered a EGR valve to replace what's on there, any thing else I can try?

Idle's fine, and it seems like it only does this once it is warmed up, which is why I changed the temp sensor.

Which temp sensor did you change? I suspect that there are two on your truck. One-wire sensor is for the gauge, two-wire sensor is for the computer.

both, made that mistake and only changed the single wire then realized there were two and swapped that one as well

Can you plug in with a scanner, and see what the PCM thinks the temp is?

I have a used SnapOn MT-2500 that I bought off eBay with the cartridges for my 1988; it'll read some live data.

Yeah, the snap-on MT2500, or MTG2500 is a good scanner if it comes with all its cartridges/personality keys. It will read pretty much everything the PCM is willing to tell you. Not inexpensive, but, works on OBDI, and OBDII up to something like 2006 or so.
