Head bolts?
Educate me, please!
I have seen on here that headbolts should be replaced when removing the heads..... It has been suggested the bolts are "torque to yeild"
The reason I ask, I have a 2000 5.9 I assembled, setting on the engine stand.
The FSM said to torque in two steps, but never showed anything suggesting they are torque to yeild, ie: tighten an additional 70 degrees, etc. as I have seen on some chevy motors.
I never seen in the FSM even where it said head bolts must be replaced.
I reused the orig. bolts, but if needed, I would replace now, while engine is still on the stand.
Am I missing something here?
Thanks for your opinions.
