Default 95 Dakota 5.2 - Shifter Linkage Bushing

Hello,

My vehicle is having some slop in the gear selection and every so often it won't start until I fiddle around with the gear shifter.

The vehicle has the 5.2L with the 46RH. I went under the vehicle today and found that one of the bushings in the shift linkage is totally destroyed. It's the blue piece in the photo - PN 3575434.

Or item 8 in the diagram below:

https://www.moparpartsgiant.com/part...ub%20Cab%202WD)

I found a part on eBay, but it's pretty spendy for a piece of plastic.

https://www.ebay.ca/itm/NOS-MoPar-19...IAAOSwqoxcOMo~

Also shipping is outrageous to Canada and it's gonna be a long time to wait.

Does anyone know where I can find these in Canada or is there an alternative part number that someone has come up with? Says discontinued at the dealer unfortunately.

I used a Dorman part out of a kit; but I don't remember the Dorman part number.

I'd check the HELP! display at ... Princess? ... auto parts, or some other big box auto parts store. for another one that looks like that (albeit in a different color, maybe.) Looking at the DormanProducts.COM web site, I THINK it was out of the 14041 kit; but won't swear to that.

At least one web site also shows P/Ns 02781420; 03467754; 3575434 as supercessions; may want to check for those at the dealership also.

There's always converting to a floor shifter; I don't know how this would fit the cab (i.e., it may be in the middle of the radio when installed ... ) but eBay (ebaydesc.com) shows a bran'new floor shifter for the A904/A998 transmission.

The US-CN conversion doesn't help much, I apologize for that. This will be about the same:

Had the same problem Wolf except the white bushing toward the outer part of the truck failed. My dealer found the replacement part (after a long search). He found two and I bought both of them (they were inexpensive). Kept one for backup. Not sure about the blue bushing toward the inside of the truck. Try to replace it all if you can because it's just a matter of time before it all goes. This seem to be a fairly common problem with these Dakotas.

After fix....

Wolf, the Dodge part# for the white bushing I discussed in my previous reply is #5211845131E (maybe 5211845 131E or just 5211845). This might help you or a parts guy trace it back to the blue part you need.

BTW, the price for that blue bushing is an outrage. I agree with you. I think that white plastic bushing I replaced was a couple bucks.

You can get the replacement bushings at Napa. Part number 615-1422. Probably cheaper than the dealer. I just got them for my 95 Dak.

That NAPA part number is a Dorman 14041 - usually found in the HELP! aisle. Can also be found in a derivative part number in the UNEEDA aisle if that's what your store has.

The Dorman set is like $3.41 at Amazon; even if you toss the others away, you're ahead on the white bushing that replaces that blue one.

(Not sure how long it'll last though ... the wiper Dorman bushings don't last like the Mopar ones do.)

Thank you so much. I found the bushings at my local NAPA the package looked like it was from around the year 2000. But it took about 5 minutes and another small problem solved!
