95 Dodge Dakota 3.9 4x4 SLT
turns over will not start. Can spray fuel in carb runs.
I put 5 gallons of fuel in tank drove 10 miles stopped at store. Before I cut off engine I noticed low fuel light on.
Thought it was odd but shut off engine. When I returned out of store. Would not crank. Had to tow home. Changed fuel pump. Still no start. I can spray fuel in carb it runs as long I spray it runs.
Friend who is mechanic and works on computer controlled machines trouble shooted it and found that there is no ground. Diagnosis computer problem.
Have not gotten funds for computer yet.
Is there anything I missed or open to suggestions. I looked for the short under the power coantrol but all intakes.

If you're shooting fuel into the throttle body (you don't have a carburetor) and it runs, you have a fuel problem. Before you pull the tank down for a pump replcement, find your relay box. Swap the fuel pump relay with the a/c relay. If it starts then, get a new relay and put it in for the fuel system. You can get by without a/c, but not a fuel pump.

I did that. It did not work. When I turn the key on there is no sound from the pump. Had my dad listen at the pump.

The fuel lever doesn't move when key is turned to crank. The indicator hand is at the far left and does not move. Pump was replaced.

It's not an ignition problem then. Swap your relay to eliminate that as a possibility. You aren't getting power to the pump. If swapping the relay makes no difference, check the connection on the fuel pump and make sure it's plugged in properly. Then I'd trace the wires and see if any are damaged. It might also be in your key switch but if everything else is energizing, I'd think not.

Well I purchased and installed a new plug and play computer programed to my VIN. Still does not start. I am now inspecting wiring for damage.
Has anyone returned a computer before?

Hope there weren't any additional charges for vin programming, as that doesn't apply to the 95.....

How much gas is in the tank? Got a leak somewhere?

Default Still no joy with 95 Dakota

I got new computer but no changes. Got it running over weekend. After finding shorted wire to pump. But now same issue. Will not start. I got it running and took to town filled up tank. It would not restart in town but after 20 min was able to crank it drove it home. Now will not start again. Considering new fuel regulator.

Regulator is on the pump for a 1995 3.9/5.2 - did you check the relay?

Also, have you done a fuel pressure / fuel volume test?

And if one wire was "shorted" (was it shorted or open? And if shorted, which wire, which way?) did you check ALL the other four wires?
