Weird Stalling/Cutting Out Issue
Hello!
I'm kind of at the end of my rope here with this truck. About a month ago now I bought a '94 Dakota. Absolutely mint. Owned by a grandpa and has around 78k on it. My dad and I replaced the radiator, changed the oil, but before we did that, we realized that completely randomly, it'll cut out and stall, until you stop pressing on the gas. Turn it off and start it again, and it works perfectly fine again... usually. Has me thinking that it's an electrical issue? Weird thing is that when I put more throttle into it when it's happening, I think that I can hear it backfiring.
Here's what we've tried:
- Replaced TPS (why not, right?)
- Replaced the catalytic converter, thinking that it might be something rattling around in there.
- Replaced distributor rotor, cap, and ignition coil.
- Tried replacing the PCM, but it was worse than before. Stalled out completely, which hadn't happened before. So, you could say that I've not tried replacing that yet. It's a big expense, so I'd be hesitant to do so.
Do you guys have ANY ideas at all, before I sell this thing?
Thanks!
Parker
