Default No power to coil pack on 1993 3.9l Dakota

So I don’t have power to one of the terminals on the ASD relay, specifically the power at ignition one. That is the result of no power to the coil considering that the computer needs the input from the ASD to give the truck spark. Wondering if there are any suggestions to this issue.

That pin should get power directly from the ignition switch.... but, I can't find decent wiring diagrams for it....

Default New problem

Ok so I was incorrect on the ASD relay. All the right terminals have correct voltage. One is constant 12 and other is power at ignition etc. Anyways my issue is that on terminal 85 on that same ASD relay I am getting 12v. Now terminal 85 should be the ground. That is not good. And I have already have taken the tape off the wires around the splice under the fuse box to see what’s up but I couldn’t find anything.

Isn't pin 85 the power feed from the ignition switch, and 86 is the ground, controlled by the PCM??

I’m not 100% on the PIN number but I know it’s the ground. It’s blue with a yellow stripe. And I’ve been using a jumper to bypass the relay because with the actual relay in, it won’t work. Now my problem is that the bypass on the ASD isn’t working now. Just cranking no spark. There must shorted wires somewhere I’m thinking.

The blue/yellow wire should NOT have power, with the relay removed. That is indeed the control side of the circuit..... There is a short in there somewhere.....

OK, looking at at the wiring diagram a bit more, the fuel pump relay is ALSO on the DB/Y wire. Yank the fuel pump relay, see if you still have power there.

That’s what I’m thinking. I started to pull some wiring harness apart and follow that blue/yellow wire back. Also I just did check for power at the same place on the fuel pump relay and sure enough there is power there note: “only at ignition same as the ASD one”. Definitely should not be.

I found the wiring diagram here. Us the PCM wiring diagram, it shows all the relays and such. If you blow it up some, you can see where the wires go. Real possibility that blue/yellow wire gets power from multiple relays.

Alright so I am getting power to the ignition coi now but there is also another wire going to the ignition coil other than the power wire. The truck still won’t start. What could be other reasons why she won’t go? I have a new ignition coil so I might try that. Another thing is that I’m wondering if it’s a good idea to clean some of the main grounds to the truck.

Never a bad idea to clean grounds.

How many wires going to your coil? Should be two, power feed, and the ground side of the circuit, which should go to the PCM.
