Default Pinstriping

My latest project is cosmetic (now that I'm done with the mechanical stuff). I have the original pinstriping on my truck. It's shot to say the least. Peeling, flaking, messed up. Bought a gold color but didn't like it. Too bright, too yellow. Bought a copper and it's nearly perfectly matched to the original. Ever so slightly darker but very close. I'll post before & after pictures after I get a little further along. It's a 1/2" stripe that covers the color break (I have the two tone paint job...Claret Red above and below and Light Champaign Metallic in the center). I call it burgundy and tan. Then there's a 1/4" stripe above that. Got one of those eraser wheels and slapped it on the cordless drill to remove the old striping. Takes a little time but does a good job. Very happy so far!

Just be careful with the eraser wheel, it'll burn the paint if you work in one spot too long.

I’ve heard that more than once and seeing I never used an eraser wheel before it is advice I am heeding.

Right side and tailgate done. Looks pretty stinking good. Wife helped she cut the fancy schmansy thingie at the very front. I can’t do that kind of work.

Removed pinstripe from the left side. Decided I'm gonna give the middle paint section some new paint using rattle cans. It's chipped and scratched up pretty good. Just the tan mid section from the door back. The rest of the truck paint is fine for the most part.

That looks freaking mint. Good job.

I pulled mine off with a heat gun but yours looks more beat up than mine was.

I’ve heard people do that. I didn’t even try. It was gooey enuf as is and figured a heat gun would make it worse.

It was barely doable 8 years ago so I imagine it would have been nearly nearly impossible now...the magic eraser was definitely the way to go.

Not to mention I have a habit of burning my hands. Love/hate relationship with heat guns.
