I want to replace my seatbelt on the Driver side up front because my is sloppy. I was looking at a junkyard Dakota today and was wondering if the rear belts are the same as the front? I found a good donor and if that's the case I will take the rear and put it up front.

Also the tires on my truck are currently P255/60/R15 the sticker in the door jam says OEM tires are P195/75-15 I believe. What are the different tire size options that can go on my truck?

(Still haven't crawled under it to figure out the power steering leak yet)

The rear seat belts on my ‘93 Dakota are different than the fronts. Both the strap and buckle configuration. Can they be modified? I dunno. Find fronts to replace your front if you can. Maybe swap with the passenger side. Cripes, I have 3 seat belts up front. Not all 3 can be sloppy.

I run Michelin LTX M/S P215/75R15 on my Dakota. They work perfectly fine. And yes, my door jam sticker also specs P195/75R15.

 

I just replaced my power steering pump and hoses. Flushed it out too and added a magnefine filter. I'll never have to worry about it again. It's not a particularly hard job. My thread is on here somewhere...not too far down the list...if you want to learn a few things. Use a box end wrench to remove the one difficult upper mount pump bolt. Nothing else will work. The rest is simple. Will need a pulley puller/installer you can rent for $0 at any parts store to remove the old pulley and install on the new pump. No big deal.

 

When I was looking to replace my seatbelts I saw a video of a guy who fixed his problem by pulling the belt (it is removed from car) all the way out and clamping it so it stayed open then scrubbed the whole thing real good with a brush and soapy water. He claims it solved the problem once it was dry and reinstalled. It was pretty dirty. I bought NOS from these guys https://www.vpartsinc.com/

 

I also called Discount Tire to get tire sizes, or verify. I bought some junkyard ones that are pretty much new under the size 225 60 R16 I switched to 16's so I could have more rim options when I get new rims. I currently have the Progressive 5 star rims on it from the 90s but only have 3. It's really hard to find a replacement one in the right size and lug pattern.

 

I went back to the junkyard and pulled the front seatbelt (was in better condition than mine) and also pulled the rear driver side just in case. I looked at the part numbers and they were exactly the same so here's hoping? I have the LE or Sport as far as I can tell. I have researched the VIN and it gives different answers on different sites. I haven't tried to install yet. Might be a while before I do.

 

This one has a quite a bit of fraying on the sides so I am not sure if being dirty is only the problem but I might give that a try. Thanks

 

How did you know it was your power steering pump and not the rack?

 

I had seepage coming from the pump (bottom of pump and hoses were damp with fluid). Was only going to get worse. Knew it wasn't the rack because I changed the inner tie rods last Fall and there was no leakage around the seals. Replaced pump AND both hoses AND added a 3/8" Magnefine filter. Did a thorough flush (plenty of videos on You Tube).
