My 95, 5.2, auto, 2WD has started overheating, only when idling for 20 min or so (waiting in line at Taco Bell). Temp is fine when driving around. It has a new water pump, thermostat, 2 yr old radiator, new coolant, and the coolant circulates fine. Could it be anything other than the fan clutch? The fan runs at idle but I have no idea how fast it should be going.
If I’m going to have to get a new fan clutch, should I put in an electric fan instead. Any suggestions?
I put a Dodge Intrepid dual fan on my 94 5.2 4wd .i had to make some spacers but it bolt right to the radiator and fits okay you just have to loosen the rad to change the serpentine belt .
If you go electric, you will need a relay to run power to the fan. in addition, you need a coolant sensor to turn the fan on and off, as well as a pressure sensor from the AC.....
