Default Error Code Help

I had an error code 15 come up and was wondering what need to be done to fix it, as well as would that cause the vehicle to go into limp mode?

Vehicle speed sensor (VSS) -signal

Not getting vehicle speed. Though I am not entirely sure what limp mode would actually be on an OBDI Dak.....

Maybe telling us what you are driving would be a good idea?

Does your speedometer work?

What year do you have. It's a 1995 or earlier. On OBD I it's usually the speed sensor or circuit. Is your speedometer working?

I have a 1994 3.9l automatic, the speedometer isn't working and won't shift after 3rd gear. Originally thought it was the shift solenoid but that wasn't one of the error codes that had came up.

First three gears are purely hydraulically controlled. TCC and O/D should be controlled by the computer. If it doesn't know how fast you are going, you won't get O/D.

Your speed sensor should be on the tailshaft of the trans, (or, t-case, if you are 4x4) It's a gear driven signal generator. But, it seems the PCM isn't getting the signal.

Okay, I will look into that and replace the sensor and see if that resolves it, or if it's something with the wiring between the sensor and PCM

Replaced the speed sensor and everything is back to normal.
