Default wiper spine issue

Hi,
I have a 95 dakota the wiper arm on drivers side stripped out ,the splines on the arm were visably damaged,
splines on the 'male' end looked good. However I took the time to chase each spline with a pick to be sure no debris
from the arm was in there.

Here is my problem, the splines on the 'male' end look alot smaller, than the splines on the arm.
Is this normal? I bought a new arm and it also had the larger spline, like the arm that came off.
Is it possible that someone replaced the setup and now it has a different year in it?
The new arm does not want to go on.

Any thoughts? advice?
thanks for any help

New arm probably just is going to fit tight. I think the spline difference is so you can 'index' the arm so that it parks in the right spot, and gives a full sweep when running.
