Thank you so much Hey-You for taking the time to help. you the man. We got the linkage unlocked and are very happy for that. Flounderguy, I broke this cable also and put a splice onto it. Everything seems fine, the truck starts and shifts gears with the red needle in the correct orientation PRND. We did have one mishap; the key would not come out of the ignition switch. We had the key in and out several times but this last time the switch would not let go. Finally Karn got the key out somehow. Would you think this is anyway related the dropping the column? We are new to the Vehicle and have no real history with the truck. The key is old and thin, so it could easily be that

Thanks again you guys-- and right on HEY YOU for keeping us going.

Sp53,Steve, and Karn

I would be very surprised if dropping the column could cause the key to get stuck. I think if you take the key to a Dodge dealer, with the vin, registration and ID, they’ll cut a key for you. If your current key is the problem, duplicating it won’t help. If you eliminate the key as the problem, then it could be the ignition. Best of luck.

You can always buy another key cylinder and replace the one in your truck. Not that expensive.

I paid the dealer less than $30 for a key they made as Flounderguy suggests. And you don't even need to bring the key in they can make it from the VIN with proof of ownership like the vehicle registration with your name on it. I guess you'd need a picture ID or license too.
