Default Timing chain sprockets?

I just replaced the cylinder head's on my 93 Dodge Dakota le 5.2 magnum. Question is I got the timing off 180 digrees and can't seem to get tdc back is there anyway to get the sprockets back in line without removing the timing cover.

Nope. But, you should be able to just pull the distributor, and re-index it.

Did you pull the distributor when you pulled the engine apart. Like HeyYou said, reindex the distributor. That's the only way I can think it would be off.

Turn the engine so #1 cylinder is at TDC, in firing position. (both valves closed.) The distributor will have a notch that you need to align the rotor with. Usually, the cap is also marked with which tower is for #1.

Ooh! I learn stuff every day. Don't reach into a toaster while it's working, it's orange for a reason. Don't fry bacon in the nude. Never lick a steak knife. Lot's of things.
