Does anyone know if there will be any issues with running an auto computer in a manual setup involving the neutral/park safety switch? Currently, the truck doesn't have one, at least a working one. Being clutch and neutral switches don't do anything, but I'd imagine the autos have it built into the trans harness, so is there wires I need to bypass or should it just work?

You'll need to jumper the neutral safety switch connector on the auto trans harness, or, just run it to ground. (need to look at the schematics to determine which.) The connector for the clutch safety switch is already in the in-cab harness, and already has a jumper installed on an auto-trans truck.

The PCM will whine about various inputs that it is NOT getting from the trans, and will set codes, thus, CEL will constantly be on, and some have reported idle issues on the road, when coming to stops..... but, not everyone experiences that.

You could just install a pcm from a truck that had the 360, and a manual trans, but, I don't think the 360 got MPFI until 93???

I'll poke around at the harness diagram for that pin... in terms of the CEL, I figured as such as I imagined it will look for the trans and be like wait a minute there isnt one. I've heard about the idle too, people saying the computer will lean out the fuel because it thinks its in neutral all the time. I plan to go through SCT to get a base tune as well as setup the computer to be run as a manual PCM instead of an auto. I'm pretty sure we spoke about it awhile back that I need a 96-97 PCM to maintain OBDII along with the compatibility with a harness that will fit my 92, so finding one was difficult, let alone finding one from a manual truck.

Yeah, the pre-96 stuff isn't flash-programmable.....

The GM folks got around that by burning their own proms. There is an entire industry dedicated to doing just that..... Unfortunately, nothing like that seems to exist for the Dodge computers.

Welp am now in my next setback. Something I guess I overlooked, the 92 computer runs almost everything on the truck, lights, accessories, engine, etc. The new harness and computer I have is setup for what I’m assuming is a truck that has a BCM as well, along with the fact that the firewall connector doesn’t exist on the new harness.

What year harness?

There is a bit more to the wiring for the OBDII stuff, but, all the accessories should still work the same way. That didn't really change until 98.

The ECM is from a 96 1500 5.9, the harness is from a 97 1500 5.2, though I feel like I should’ve gone with a 96 Dakota 5.2 harness now that I think about it.

That *should* work. Have a look at the wiring diagrams, and see what the wires on the extra plug are supposed to be doing.

I’ve got the big firewall connector and the fuse box, I haven’t yet taken apart the box to see if there’s a connector in there, but there definitely is not a firewall connection on the new harness. I’m assuming I can just Jerry rig it for the time being and then get a 5.2 1996 Dakota harness if that would be a better fit?

Probably run into the same issue. Things changed with the advent of OBDII... not idea how much on the Daks.
