If you have a lot of oil on the outside of the bellhousing, check the oil pressure sensor, and the gasket at the rear of the intake.... Also have a look at the front main seal....
I’ll see if I can order the pcv valve. I did replace the front seal, this time with the balancer staying on. Around the gasket it’s dry but just below it right where that curve is on the timing cover is wet which makes me think it’s the pan gasket. The top back side of the engine is bone dry I peak there a lot because it’s right where the hold down is for the dizzy.

Yeah, I agree, that's probably the pan gasket. They can be a right pain in the keester to get 'em to stay in place while you bolt the pan down..... Been there, done that....

Going to poke more into the mpg aspect of things. While I know a 4 barrel v8 is never going to get great gas mileage, I’ve heard of people with older mopar cars that probably weigh more than my truck getting 17-20mpg highway. In the 70 miles I’ve driven in the past week I’ve gone through 11 gallons of gas. While it’s rural area driving, average speed of about 40 with little stopping, I feel like it should be higher than about 6.5mpg. I’ve tuned basically everything and messed with the timing, idle mixtures are turned to optimum vacuum (about 17 inches), and vacuum distributor is on manifold vacuum as I switched it from timed port.

The only other thing I can think of is maybe it’s the jets? I’m tempted to drive around the same this week but with the vacuum on the timed port and see if it makes a difference, but I definitely feel like I should be getting more than that mpg. I basically always drive in 4th or OD so I’m not cruising at 4k or anything of that sort.

Even with a carb, you should be able to do better than that..... Can you put a sniffer on it, and see what it thinks your exhaust looks like? (a wideband O2 sensor would be nice at this point.....)

I plan to when I get the exhaust redone I just don’t have the funds right now to get the actual sensor bc they’re pretty expensive lol.

Have you looked at the plugs? Color can tell you a lot.

I have not I’ve been meaning to do that for awhile actually. My dad’s buddy told me to find a long stretch of road and open up the throttle for a couple seconds then pull off and pop a plug. Poor man’s AFR gauge lol

Do you happen to have the part number for the mopar part? I want to make sure I order the right thing. I just got the truck back from my mechanic, installed a brand new FelPro seal, not sure what product line it was but it was a dark blue one. Took it to a self serve wash and sprayed down the frame and stuff while I was washing the truck off and now there's still oil leaking from the timing cover/oil pan mating surface. I'm not sure what exactly the brand is I got the PCV valve I can probably find it, but I think its Standard Motor Products from RockAuto, it does squeak and it sounds like its constantly clicking so is it possible its not venting the pressure enough and its blowing oil out of the pan seal? (I do currently have the PCV valve hooked up to the vacuum port on the brake booster, it has multiple ports, I'm sure this is an issue but would it really cause the crankcase to pressurize that much?)
