Default Headlights

Recently my headlights stopped working on my 95 Dakota sport 3.9. Unless I hold the dimmer switch towards me like turning my brights on the headlights down stay on. I bought a brand new dimmer switch and installed it and still the same problem. What else do I need to check that could be the issue. This effects the headlights only. All other lights operate normally.

That's a really simple circuit..... Power to headlamp switch is hot at all times, and only has one source. Even with headlights off, there is a pass-thru circuit to the dimmer switch, which is why flash to pass still works. Since you DO have power getting there, I would be lookin' real hard at the headlamp switch.

And think seriously about I think a Putco kit that ends that problem. It's a kit that you use to re-wire the headlights using a relay to get proper voltage to the headlights without using the headlight switch (which as you found out) 'kills' said switch. There's probably a write-up in the FAQ or FAQ2 section on this & from what I remember it's plug & play.
It's a design flaw from Mopar that affects not only the Dakota's but full size models also. I say design flaw or it could be a badly designed headlight switch. Either way running current through a switch constantly ain't good. My .02 worth.
