Default NP 2500 transmission question.

My 89 LE 2WD 5spd long bed 150K. Just started a nice big clunk when going into gear. Only in the forward gears.. not in reverse. Worse when first starting off... then lessens as it gets moving.
Feels like its just under the pedal. I can do the little things.. (brakes...power steering pump..etc), but transmission...... nop

Found the cause....... ujoint on the carrier bearing shaft is bad.

thanks....

yeah... as I was driving today I realized I could make the clunk by just mashing the gas pedal....

Does this have a 2 piece drive line with a carrier bearing? ... could also cause it.
