Another thought, to get away from the 60-pin, would I have to upgrade it to OBD-2 ?

Yep. I think all of the OBDI PCMS used the same pinout.

In that picture, I was trying to show the # 1, 2, 3 pins, and all the rest aren't where my FSM shows them. The picture shows the top left of the plug when it would be plugged in. The index notches are on the side that's clamped against the wood, so I could work on it.
I took it for a little drive and it runs more gooder.
I creamed my connector so bad that I had to find a used replacement on EBay. It was the connector and all the wires still inside. The seller just hacked the harness and left about 10" of pig tail. As it turned out, that was a good thing because I used those wires as a map to reconnect the harness in my truck to the new connector. 60 wires means 60 different identifying colors and stripes. Good grief! I also invented my own tool and process to remove the pins without busting the little retainer clip. That and a surgical approach of steady hand and patience won me the day. But many hours and my patience tested unlike anything I ever did on my truck with putting the front coils back in being a close second. But you're already a step ahead of where I was. I see you have some tools. I just went into mine like a dumb idiot and made a mess out of it. Thankfully, I'm a quick learner and straightened out my act going forward. With 33 year old trucks you get limited chances.

I'll have to try that Card trick, anything to keep from breaking those pesky little S*&ts. I was reading the related post from Flounderguy about the engine harness connector. And used some of those Links. Found a 60-pin with a short pigtail and paid for one, I'll see what it looks like.
I stuffed all the wires back in the 60-pin, except the rubber is showing a little. I'll have to rig up a little deflector plate.
Might get a little wet ?

Duetsch hook, for the orange clip on the face of the 60-pin.

This is the IWISS 12-piece electrical terminal service kit # KIT- DC01. 3 round pin 4-way crimpers and 2 for the folded pins like the PCM connector.

I don't know what card trick y'all are talking about. I have a thread buried in this forum somewheres that details the method I used. Probably need an excavator to find that thread. In summary, I used two tools. One was a piece of credit card I cut up and placed next to (opposite) the pesky little s*&t retainer clips. The card pieces served as a backstop for those pesky little clips so I couldn't bend them back far enough to break off. I might of even layered two together (can't remember). The key was to be able to bend those pesky s78ts just enuf for the barrel terminal to clear and no more. How did I bend the pesky s76ts back? I used a microdriver (small screwdriver for like eyeglasses). But I ground down the straight edge so it was sharp instead of flat. Why? Because it slide behind those pesky s87ts must easier than a flat end that would just get hung up on the pesky s87t. Get yerself a real good light to see down the inside of that connector. And just have patience. I didn't snap off any of those pesky s87ts once I got set up correctly.
