Default Steering problems

I need some HELP. i have a 91 5.2L 4X4 and while driving, i am constantly fighting the steering wheel to the point where my hand hurts later on.Now ive put new tires on it,new shocks, had a shop that i trust replace a cracked idler arm and a broken pitman arm and an alignment done.AND the truck still fights with me .Its not like a truck out of alignment because it runs straight if you dont touch it on the interstate. I just dont understand and neither could a buddy who works at repair shop.thanks for your help

If its hard to steer, then maybe the power steering pump isnt putting out. I think you have power steering right?

Big tires will also feel any and every rut in the road. This will cause the truck to drive itself, like following a track. Also make sure all tires are inflated to the proper PSI.

Good luck

Yes, a bad steering gear will make the steering sluggish

I'm taking a steering class right now. I'll see if I can help. Does it pull to any particular direction? When? Have you had the ball joints checked? Bushings? How about the shackles and leaf springs in the rear? Ask the shop you had do the alignment check the thrustline with the geometrick center line. If their a good shop, they'll know those terms. The two lines should line up on top of each other. There is a lot of angles the shop can check. Whether or not they actually checked them, is another thing. Is your steering wheel centered?

It can yes. It can also throw off the alignment and balancing of the wheels. Get new tires on and see what happens then.
