Looking for info for an 87 "Indy 500"edition Dakota
I've owned this truck for almost 10 years now and I still really don't know much about it other than an 8' bed version was also available. I still don't know much about production numbers, or basic background information.....
Thanks
Troy
Here's what it looks like....

This is the only good picture of an Indy Dakota I could find. I knew I had seen a picture of one some where before just couldn't remember where.

That's the 8' bed version that I mentioned....
And apparently it was avaiable in a 2WD version as well. I've personally seen an 8' bed, 4WD version as well.....
Thanks
That is a cool looking truck. Have never seen one like that. Awesome pics guys. Will ask some of the old school guys a work if they remember those. One guy that works there, his dad has a Shelby dakota. I think that is it. The one that came with the removable top. Will have to see if he can give me a pic of it.

I don't know if this helps but i know the Indy Daks were brought out to promote the release of the Dakota, a couple of them out there were Indy 500 pacetrucks (all of them are "pacetrucks" but there a couple that were used in an actual event as "official" pacetrucks), they seem to be easy to find up here (near chicago), seen 3 in the past 2 months for sale and on the road. There is one for sale on autotader, 4x4 6' bed. These trucks supposedly have all (from what i've heard, find it hard to believe) taken a lap around the brickyard. They are not very valuable as far as cash value, but i'm sure all of them have a sentimental value which makes them a little harder to find than your average Dak. Don't mean to sound like i'm babbling, just throwing what i know out there. I'm sure someone out there can shed some light on the more specific details. Later
