My Little Accident
This happend a few weeks ago.
Got into a little fender bender.
I was stopped at a light to go straight forward, and my light turned green, and I press the gas, and next thing I know, I was hit by a guy. He was going, I'd say, probably 30-35MPH. (The impact on his vehicle was passenger side rear quarter panel, near the bumper, so I guess technically, I hit him, but, he ran the light, I win!
)
Luckily the light didn't turn green about a half-second earlier or I didn't punch the gas, because I'm sure if one or both happened, quite a lot of damage would of happened.
What sucks is, later that day, the A/C compressor clutch pooped out, and the shop I took the truck to said "it's not related." Naturally, of course, I get into the accident on my vacation home, and, than have to drive back to Arkansas with hot weather and no A/C. [:@]
The other guys insurance paid the repair bill, which was $1300. They replaced the bumper and the black thing under it, realigned the hood, and repainted the fender and the door (there was some rubage between the fender and the door, secretly, that was there before the accident
)
The guy was ticketed for running a red light. This accident happened right near the start of my 2-week vactaion. Ironically, on my way back "home" after my 2 weeks of leave, I got a ticket right after leaving home for running a red light. This was, pretty much, the extent of the conversation with the cop: "Ma'am, the light turned red really fast and I didn't feel I had enough time to stop", "Sir, the light was red when your tires passed the line, you had plenty of time to stop, I could hear you speed up the engine," *think to myself* "Thank you ma'am for telling me how quickly I can stop, if you want to provide my with any more 3rd party driving tips, please, go ahead." At least I got pulled over by a Durango.

Luckily, these bumpers are actually built (not out of plastic).
My front license plate suffered the most damage, it was folded into a little triange-ish figure. When the cop went into the intersection to find it, he didn't recognize it, lol.

Sounds like you are indeed lucky that you hadnt gone a lil quicker. That would of been a t-bone for sure which would of sucked worse.
Glad to hear the trucks fixed and back on the road. My truck has no a/c at all so I sort of know what its like. Yet up here in PA it's prolly not as hot as down there in Arkansas.
Around here the Johnny Law rolls in the typical crown vic cruisers. Although once you get away from the towns, they have expeditions, cherokees, and blazers. I have however spotted recently one durango.
The last time I was pulled over it was by a crown vic. He dropped something under his seat and was trying to get it and merged over on me going down the bypass here. Luckily he caught himself and jerked it back over into his lane before it got stamped with a jeep emblem. But the he pulled me over afterwards. I was thinking what the hell? Then I looked at my wife who was my girlfriend at the time and said" this guy just damn near hit us in his cop car and now hes pulling me over. I cant wait to see what this is about."
He got up to the window and said "hello sir. I just wanted to appologize for that lil incident back there". I said "uhhh ok. No problem, don't worry about it". Then he said "thank you sir have a very nice day". I said "yeah........you too". I think he was thinking, Oh god please don't let this guy call this in.......they will ream my *** for sure at the station. But its all good. I just thought he was gonna site me for something after he damn near ran me off the road. We were on our way home in the cherokee after a day of muddin' and other various off road adventures. So I couldnt see out of my back windows and all I could see out the windshield was where the wipers cleaned it off. I did take the time to clean off my side mirrors and left my windows down so I could see behind me. But everything else was completely covered. It looked like a big dirt ball going down the road so I thought I was getting a ticket for sure. I mean....I was taking half of the woods home with me on the bypass. So I was kind of shocked that all he wanted to do was appologize.

You got lucky haha. A few weeks ago i almost got t-boned really bad once. When i was pulling out of the intersection (on a green ofcourse) for some reason i put my foot on the brake and i looked to the left and a guy went speeding by doing at least 50mph in a 40 and ran through a steady red light.
erock92kota, if that cop tried to issue you a ticket for ANYHING, I would have went straight to the police station and have a serious conversation with his supervisor. Luckily, he didn't try to pull anything.
peckens, glad to hear you were able to avoid an accident.

Yeah, avoiding an accident is always a great feeling. I managed to get t-boned once. Fortunately, yet unfortunately it wasnt in my car. I put a new power steering pump in my sisters car. Took it for a test drive afterwards. I stopped.....looked both ways. Saw nor heard anything comming. Proceeded across the intersection and WHAM!.......Her sebring now had the front end of a subaru impreza in the door. Nice. Then the kid tried very hard to make it my fault. I just flipped open the cell, told him not to move his car, and called 911. Then I had to call my sister. That was fun.
Fortunately they were able to fix her car. Which made me feel a little better although it wasnt my fault. But I still felt bad.
Turned out that the car he demolished was acctually his brothers. He wasnt even supposed to be driving it. His bro went away on vacation. He stole the keys from his parents while they went to the mall and decided he was going for a joy ride. Which is what was kind of ironic about the whole thing. His brothers car smashed up my sisters car. His brother turned out to be a friend of a friend of mine. Its a small world here in north central PA.

I was in an accident acouple of weeks ago too. and I finnally got my truck back yesterday from the bodyshop and the a/c clutch went too. and they wont fix it cause they said it would have had nothing to do with the accident. (wich the a/c clutch was gone a week before the accident)
but I keep goin back there and fighting with the insurance company to fix it.
I figure I pay enough money to them, so thay can fix my truck a lil bit.

Just thought I would keep ya'll updated (not that you really care, lol)
Finally got everything figured out. Called the insurance company up, explained everything, they came out and looked at my truck, verified my complaints, and gave me the go-ahead to drop it off at a place of my choice. I did so today. They will than visit that place to re-inspect the vehicle, and *hopefully* everything will be back to like it was before the accident (including the AC I really hope)
Even more suprizing, they gave me a rental car. (I'm only 19, thats why its suprizing). I had to call them and ask about it (because I really don't like getting rides from people when its not necessary), but they didn't hesitate. Granted, the car isn't anything special (its a Chrysler PT Cruiser), but, better than walking (they had a Stratus sitting there, I should have asked for that, but, they gave me what they gave me).
I already miss my truck
.
Jonnymagnum, did ya ever win that fight? What kinda accident was it? Like mine was a front-end (it hit with enough force, I believe, that it caused the AC damage... I also noticed that the cargo bed sticks out on the drivers side, and sticks in on the passenger side.. when I saw that I said, "Hmmm... thats interesting" and pointed it out to this body shop)

and your lucky to get a PT cruiser, I asked for a truck and got a damn mini van.[:'(]
make sure you go over it after the body shop is done with it. because they can miss stuff and by the time you notice it, it could be too late.
here are some pics of before and after it got fixed.

Hope everything turns out ok and they fix everything. I hate dealing with people like that when the job isnt finished or you know how something was and when they try to tell you how it was.
Kind of like taking your truck to pep boys for a last ditch attempt for an alignment on a sunday afternoon, (I had it close, but when you pay $200 a tire, you want dead on) and they try to tell you the ball joints you replaced the night before are bad. Then you call them on it so they find something else wrong like a tie rod end you also just replaced the night before. So you tell them to drop your truck off their lift that your taking it somewhere else and the manager makes a scene in front of a handful of other customers that your going to drive your "unsafe vehicle" on public roads. So you jump behind the counter, walk into the garage, locate your vehicle which you notice isnt even in the air yet. Hop in it, fire it up, and leave.
True story. I will never go into another pep boys again in my life. If their are still any open.

Man, that sucks. I've only heard one other story about Pep Boys garage, and that one was bad too... won't be goin' there any time soon.
