do you use any additives
For the engine:
I add a gray bottle (15 ounces) of CD-2. Its supposed to help with engine wear and the rings (I don't have a problem with either however, when I got the truck my grandpa recommended I add it every oil change). Its also supposed to quiet the engine down (such as valve train noise).
I have also added some MMO (Marvels Mystery Oil). They add some MMO (and another liquid) to their diesel fuel to help lube their lift pumps.
I have used, and would recommend both.
For the transmission:
I'm kinda leary about using anything in the transmission. Chryslers ATF is enginered specifically for their transmissions. It has a certain "gritiness" to it (which Dexron lacks, which is why it shouldn't be used), and of course, if something screws that up, its not good on the transmission.
However, before I service a transmission (and I mean not just the filter, I do the filter and change out ALL the fluid [disconnect the return line from the transmission cooler]) I like to run some SeaFoam thru there. It's suppsed to break up the varnish in the lines (I run SeaFoam only before a flush because otherwise that varnish might still be circulating in the transmission and stuff)
Other than that, I run some fuel system cleaner every couple thousand miles. I've been forgetting to do a SeaFoam engine treatment, but I've heard good stuff about that. (I'll do one after the first of the month, and make a post
)
*edit* In fact, speaking of the devil, they just had a thread over in the Ram section about running SeaFoam. Here ya go.

I used to use lucas in my old 88 dakota 3.9 it would quiet the valve noise and give me more oil pressure. and I use it in my new truck the odd time now. and I would recomend it.

i tried the seafoam engine treatment and it seems to have worked but i didn't get as much white smoke as everyone else says they have gotten. Not that it's a big deal but my truck has 350.000 kilometers on it and i thought that i'd have alot more carbon build up. I'm gonna try thier tranny treatment next time.
