Default transmission question

I am new to the dodge's so please bear with me. I have just bought a 1993 dodge dakota with a V8 ,auto tranny 4x4. I was driving it home and noticed that it does not have OD at all. I filled the fluid and still nothing. The switch on the dash does not seems to work either. I tried playing with it and nothing happens, no light no click no nothing. Is there a fuse or relay that control's the OD in these. Should I replace that switch and see if that is the problem? What other things should I do to check this out to eliminate things? thanks in advance.

I have a related question for you. Does your torque convertor lock-up? If not, I would try swapping the "Electronic Transmission Relay" with a known good relay (For example, if you have ABS or A/C and those items work). Note: this relay occupies the same spot the "Radiator Cooling Fan Relay" The transmission relay is for 3.9/5.2 engines, and the fan relay is for 2.5 engines. These relays are located in the Power Distribution Center, which is a black box behind the battery. Also, I would check all fuses under the dash as well as the ones in that box.
The transmission relay controls the: overdrive, torque convertor and variable force solenoids.

It would probably not be a bad idea to change out that switch as well.

Post back with results.

Ok did some research today. The OD on/off switch on the dash was unhooked(reason why it didnt work) but that did not fix the problem. I looked for a relay and there is not relay and no wires going to that spot on the panel. Tried to adjust the kickdown cable. that didnt work. I have no clue what is wrong. I dont believe that the torque converter locks up. So should there be a relay in that spot. this is a 93. any other ideas would be great. I ran the codes also. came up with 12,15,45,37,55. unhooked the battery and they cleared. that didnt help either. any ideas would be great. thanks

This is no such relay in the 93's. I still do not have OD in my 93 and have replaced everything related to it, solenoid pack, switch, speed sensor, fluid, filter. Checked all wiring. Jumped solenoid direct to the battery via a switch. Nothing. This is a problem with these trucks and the transmission. The only thing I have not done yet is to adjust the bands on the transmission. I do not think that will fix it, but it's worth a shot I guess. If you find something, please let me/us know on this board. You can read my posts here too.

Well, as you know, just because you reset the computer doesn't mean it will fix itself.
Codes:
12 - Battery disconnected within last 50 key-on cycles
15 - No vehicle speed sensor signal OR low output speed sensor RPM above 15MPH
37 - Transmission temp sensor (no temp rise after start or voltage too low or voltage too high) OR torque convertor clutch no RPM drop at lockup OR torque convertor clutch solenoid circuit OR park/neutral switch stuck in park or in gear OR open or shorted condition detected in torque convertor part throttle unlock circuit
45 - governor pressure solenoid control circuit OR transmission 3-4 solenoid circuit OR governor pressure not equal to target @ 15-20PSI OR governor pressor sensor volts too high OR governor pressor sensor volts too low OR transmission 12 volt supply relay control circuit OR 3-4 shift solenoid no RPM drop @ 3-4 shift OR governor pressure above 3 PSI in gear with 0MPH (zero MPH) OR governor pressure sensor offset volts too low or high OR o/d switch pressed more than 5 minutes
55 end of codes

OK I did more research and the trannmission guy thinks it has to do with the speed sensor so I need to know where that is (a pic would be great). He thinks this from what I have told him and the codes I have now which are 12,15, 55 I dont have the 37, 45 anymore. So if anyone can tell me where this is would be great.

You ask, and you shall recieve.
Located on the drivers side output shaft of the 2WD transmissions, and on 4WD vehicles, drivers side output shaft of the transfer case.
