Default New K&N

I just got one for christmas and put it on my 318 with the Tornado Fuel Saver and OMG i actually feel like i have a performance engine sometimes. When i push the gas pedal it really wants to go lol. Even my mom noticed a big difference in acceleration. I am thinking the next thing I am going to replace is the whole exaust, all the way from the manifold to the tail pipe.

I would take out the tornado and get a aftermarket exhaust.

the only gain your feeling is from the k&n. NOT the tornado. they do nothing for power. unless you have a carburated engine they dont do nothing. on fuel injection your fuel is mixed in the cylindars. not the manifold. so the tornado is just blocking air flow. take the tornado out and go for a drive. you will not even notice the difference.

but if you really like your tornado, you should also buy a throttle body spacer and an electric supercharger. then you will really feel the difference. (well the only difference will be in your pocket)

Jonny is right. However, do the gen1 dakotas use TBI? (Throttle Body Injection) If they do, then you could possibly see some fuel economy. However, if it is using standard Multi Port Fuel Injection, it will actually hurt your gas milage and not help it.

Iknow I do have a carburetor and not fuel injection but wether it is TBI or not i could not tell you. I know that just the K&N is not that big of an improvement but driving it stock all this time and just now upgrading is like WHOOO!! lol. I drive a 94' dakota4x4 5.2L.

Don't forget NOS stickers and muffler bearings too to the performance upgrades.

I think they went from coburator to TBI in 88. then they went to fuel injection in 91. only in TBI or carburator you will feel anydifference.

if you do have TBI then yes you would feel a bit of a difference but not much. I hate those ebay deals that add like 50hp for 5 bucks.

also make sure you get the greaseable muffler bearings, they add abit more power
