Default 95' Dakota

Alright, I found a truck that I like, its a 1994 Dakota Ext. Cab Short bed, with 4 wheel drive and a 318 in it, its only $800, and the truck looks to be great shape, but the frame is supposivly rusty, I wanna look at it sometime to see how rusty it is, but what do you guys think? is a rusty frame easy/cheap to fix? it doesnt sound it will be cheap tho. Lemme know what you guys think.

it all depends on how rusty the frame is... if theres any holes in it, then walk away. also look underneath the cab and bed for holes. and look at all the brake lines, gas lines. it sounds like a good deal.

all frames get rusty aslong as theres no holes and nothing rotted off of it. then buy it up

Sounds like a good deal... provided the frame is in good shape.
It's funny you should bring up frame rust. I've been thinking about getting the rust off my frame and coating my frame... the problem is in the front section of the frame, its hollow, and theres no way to get inside the frame.
But anyways, like jonny said, rust is normal (its unprotected metal), but rust that is effecting the integrety of the frame should automatically cancel the deal.

Ok, thanks alot guys, I think I'am gonna take a look at it within the next while. Alright, I got a job finally, just found out a few minutes ago, I think I may call this guy to see what hes sayin about the truck. Just wondering guys, which is easier on gas, the 3.9L V6, or the 5.2L V8, I've heard rumors that the 360 was around the same on fuel as the V6, is this true? thanks guys.

Hah, the moderators would know best. But from what I have heard the V8 sucks gas something fierce. I have a 95 with a 3.9 and it is great on gas...doesn't use much more than the wifes car.

It depends on who you talk to what they say. I mean, theres people with V8s getting 20MPG highway, and theres people with V8s getting 12MPG highway. Theres people with V6's getting the same thing. *edit* I get around 18-19MPG highway going 65MPH. I get around 11-12MPG in city driving (for me, thats 1.5 miles one way to work, hardly great for the motor)
For the most part, they get about the same mileage, and, with the added power, the V8 wins. If I could change only one thing about my truck, it would be to add two cylinders to it. (If I could change two things, I would make it so my truck would last forever).

like dodgerules said that it all depends on who you ask. but my 88 dak 3.9 gets 15-16 mpg and my 99 dak 5.2 gets 20-21mpg.

I know the 99 has a magnum engine and is newer. I'm happy getting 15mpg in the 88 cause I drive the hell out of it. maybe if I baby it I could squeeze abit more out of it, butthen that wouldnt be fun at all

My 99 with the 3.9 v6 sucks gas. It has 33's on it, but the gas milage was terrible before I put them on. It gets worse than the v8's and has less power.[:@]
