Hello do everyone. Just checking to see if anyone can help me. My engine light is on and the mechanic said it was the crank and shaft sensors. Can anyone advice where these sensors are located in order to change them myself. I would be saving over $300. Any information is greatly appriciated. Thanks.

 

My bad. I have a 2001 Durango with the 4.7L.

 

I can't find that in my manual any help on where it would be guys? After I get an answer I can post up the page/s from my manual.

 

if you are referring to the CKP and CMP (crankshaft and camshaft position sensors respectivly)

the CKP is mounted under the pass. side exhaust manifold (very easy to get to, PITA to get out)

the CMP is mounted on the underside of the pass side head (suggest removing airbox to make it a lil easier, not needed though)

both have 10mm bolts holding them in, and remember to oil up the o-rings on the new sensors

 

If both sensors are bad, they are not that hard to replace , cam sensor is on the right head by the air cleaner and the crank is also on the right side of the block next to the starter, you may need to remove the starter to get to the sensor.

 

um no.......the starter is on the opposite side of the block



do you see a starter? i dont..........
