Steering Wheel Stereo Switch 2000 SLT
Hello, everyone.Short time lurker, firstpost.Just picked up a 2k SLT yesterday. WooHoo!
So, in orderfor theD to beperfect, I have to replace the switch on the back of the stearing wheel on the LH side (as ur sitting in the cockpit) that controls some facet of the stereo (not the volume).
Is this a harmless task? If so, where is a good place for parts.
Cheers!

I would say look at a junkyard otherwise I'm sure it's a dealer only part and they'll charge an arm and a leg. When you replace the button make sure to disconnect the - battery cable and cycle the key a few times to discharge anyleftover energy so you don't risk having an airbag blow up in your face. [&:]
The part number is 4685632AB Radio Switch for $27.70. The switch just pops out and requires no removal of any steering wheel components. There is a connector for so no soldering or wiring problems - a 5minute job at best (besiders ordering the part from the stealer)
Part arrives monday. Thanks!

The right hand switch controls the volume, the left hand does other things depending on whether the stereo is in tape, cd or radio. For CD, it skips tracks or goes to the end of a track. For radio, it SEEKs or cycles the presets. For tape, it does FFW or REW and skips tracks

My volume switches channels/tracks when I hit down, may have to but these someday. More of an annoyance than anything, but if the D is ever at the point to where there is no place else to spend my money on then I'll be on it!
All fixed. Took 5 minutes
There's a connector and it just plugs into the switch and the switch snaps into place. There's even a little tab that will prevent one from installing the switch upside down.
ahhh...perfect
