Rear Infinity 62.7i speakers not performing
(this is a repost as I thought I'd create a new thread)
I've just installed 62.7i speakers in the rear and I've got crap bass response and they sound tinny and weak.
With the OEMs I had to push the fader forward (well, that stick thingy) to drop some of the bass or adjust the eq. Now, I've got the bass eq cranked and I have to push the fader forward to get any bass at all since the fronts pump out a boatload more than the rear.
Now, sinceeveryone else raves about these speakers, I must assume that I've boned up the wiring somehow. You can't put the crossovers in wrong to the speaker since each connector is a different size and so you can't really muddle that up. I have the "tweeter" **** cranked all the way to the right which seems to get the most bass. For the connector to the door wire, I removed the harness from the OEM and sautered that to the crossover and plugged in.
Any chance reversing the polarity will give my symptoms (i.e. - I've wired it backwards)?
Also, I've noted the specifications say they are 2ohm speakers *but* on the front of the box is a picture of a stereo (like a stencil of a radio) with a 4ohm logo and a check mark next to it, however, the side of the box says "impedence 2ohms"
Thoughts?
Thanks

By chance are your speakers still using the OEM spacer? If not, that is why your BASS response may crap out. Those OEM spacers kinda enhance the bass effects.
I am using Infinity 6012i reference series and connected them with and without the spacers, without the spacers, the overall sound sux. putting them back on the OEM spacers after purchasing a special adaptor bracket to attach to the OEM spacers, I got my bass response back. I have to say, still not quite as much bass as the OEM speakers tho. But you can DEFINITELY hear the difference on sound with and without those spacers.

If you mean the grey spacers that are 1-1.5 inches thick...then, yes, I'm using them. The 62.7i speakers came with and adapter that allows me to connect the speakers to them.
After removing door panels, I removed the OEM speakers by removing the 3 screws which brought the entire speaker assembly out. I then removed the grey plastic rings (spacers) and secured them to the infinity's using the adapter and installed with the crossover.
Since I was testing w/the door panels removed, Iput them back onto see if that made a difference which it didn't. I also sat in the back seat w/the fader right in the middle and the sound was really biased to the fronts.
If you've ever listened to an .mp3 player through some of those small battery powered portable speakers, that's the sort of sound that's coming out. I can feel the speakers cones thumping if I put my hand on them, but...the sounds is..well, weak and tinny.

Did your speakers come with some surround foam to act like a washer between your speaker and spacer? My Kit came with them, the foam was compressed reall good and provided a very tight seal against the spacer. I noticed this helped out bass response alot. When I was just testing the speaker sound when mounted on the door with spacer but without the foam, I noticed a drop in bass as well as hearing vibrations on the speaker against the spacer at certain sound levels. Especially noticable when alot of bass is being pushed thru the speaker. The OEM speakers actually was rubber glued to the spacer.
