My wife's 2000 Durango (5.2L) has been dying often. It almost doesn't want to stay running, as if the idle is way too low. She has had intermittent Check Engine lights, and I took it to the local parts place and hooked it to their code computer.

It had 2 Codes: P0123 (Throttle Position Sensor) & P1294 (Target Idle Not Reached)

I replaced the TPS Sensor, the Check Engine light went away... but, it still has a hard time idling by itself, without keeping my foot on the gas.

Can anyone suggest something?

Try cleanning the throttle body and ais motor ( automatic idle speed ).

 

I am totally new to this.. would you have a picture of what you are talking about, or a link to a diagram??
