What does this code mean??
Getting this code when I check my trucks MIL.
1.)P0455 Evaporative Emission Control System Leak Detected (gross leak)
2.)P0455 (M) Evap Leak Monitor Large Leak Detected A large leak has been detected in the evaporative sysem.
Got the P0455 code explaination from two different threads on this site.Could it be related the the code below? If not how to I remedy the problem? Any help is appreciated.
Also getting P1281 - Engine is Cold Too Long. I am replacing my Thermostat today so that should fix it (I hope). If it does not I will try the engine coolant temperature sensor. Hope it is the thermostat as I do not know where the engine coolant temperature sensor is and it is probably expensive.

RE: What does this code mean??
OK I just got in from changing out my Thermostat. It is a 180 degree thermo. I gave the test drive and no leaks, yeaaaa.
I cleared the codes and in the 15 minutes test drive they did not come back, not that I would expect them to in that quick a time frame. Lets hope that the thermo change was all it took.
My old thermo was shot. One side of the sprind support on the bottom was actually broke. I caused the support to angle off sideways and bind the spring.
Still wondering if I should be worried about the P0455 code though. I have checked my gas cap and it is on tight. I am going to check the hoses near the green capped valve under the hood as I have read to check there too.

RE: What does this code mean??
i'll check the gas cap and see what it looks like. Might even just go to dealership and get a new one. See if that helps. I hope it is not a line some where. I looked at the lines under the hood and they looked fine. I guess I will crawl underneath this weekend and see what I can find. I hope it is easy to find the problem as I do not alot of money to throw at the dealership to find it for me.

RE: What does this code mean??
OK crawled underneath yesterday and found a hose from the evap canister bythe fuel tank had blown completly off the canister. Hose was split about 1 inch. It was the hose that goes from the canister to the line that leads to the from of the Durango. I did a quick fix job by usuing Duct tape to seal the hose back and the canister, lol. I am going to go by the dealer one day next week and get the actual hose for the replacement.
Thank all for the help.
