welp, you're in the same boat as me. $3200 sounds like a reasonable deal. But 1 year garuantee? Is this from Dodge itself? Because from Dodge, they offered me 3 year 36k mile warranty on their tranny.

But either way, their OEM trannys are trash, if I bought a replacement or a rebuild from them, I would expect I will be revisiting this problem again in the future. Based on everyone's experience here in this forums, having a tranny specialty shop custom rebuild it for ya will be much more reliable and possibly outlast your durango's lifespan if you take care of it.

As far as your question goes for fastman stuff, I would not be buying from him if I have any doubts. Especially since I have to buy this via from california! I had to fork out $275 for s/h and that's one way, I will have to do the same again to return the core. There goes my core deposit money! So overall, my fastman tranny will cost me close to 3k including installation. Fastman's tranny will be built like a brick and the nice thing is I am ready to do some serious upgrading on the engine now that I have a very strong tranny to hold up to the extra power. Fastman's specialty is mainly with Dodge autos. You'll notice when you go to his site. Alot of users here have dealt with Dan the fastman and his products and have nothing but good things to say. I can vouch for that.

Just remember to have your radiator replaced when you replace/rebuild your tranny. The transmission cooler is built into the radiator. You may try to flush out the tranmission cooler but there is no way to know if you really did a good cleaning. The radiator is not cheap either, a few hundred bucks, at least for my 5.9 with tow package. Nearly $500 from dealer for radiator only.

I'll let you know on Tuesday or Wednesday when my durango is finally ready to leave the shop and be road worthy again! GOD I miss driving this truck! It's been since 08/03 when my D broke down!

it sounds good that you are in california you must be happy
i'mfrom the middle east!!!!!
the shipping cost may be more than the tranny it self
and about the rebuilding, what a tranny shop can do to custemize a tranny!! here in Bahrain i dont think they can they're only good with hondas and toyota lool so its useless... only the dealer can handle a dodge cars, here its all chevys and fords

now my car is still in the dealer waiting for my call... i'm still thinking what to do...

anyway thanx for your help all
regards,,

Well since you have to work with them make them do the oversized TC, throw a shift kit in, and a better valve body.

Bigbad, I've not done much research into it and there aren't a lot of people that have done it so I dunno what it will entail but I will be a diesel mech by then and will have a shop (or a garage) to do it in so it will be a lot of trial and error.

Ah, that makes sense why they offer you only a year warranty. Not much options for you. If you know someone that can rebuild it, pretty much do like mean green says, have a better shift kit, etc, etc.

BTW, I do not live in CA. I live in Tx! Otherwise, I would not pay the $275 s/h each way for my tranny. I would rather go rent a truck and pick it up myself!

I will just have the dealer do it for you. I doubt there are any domestic tranny shop that can do dodge trannys!

A shift kit gives you firmer shifting that can handle being hammered on, TC = torque converter.

NP good luck with your build and make sure they guarantee your work. Also remember that radiator or you could have problems later.
