Chances are your Tranny is toast! I am in your same situation and just got my replacement tranny in! All started when I pulled into the parking garage, put it in reverse, and nothing, won't move. I can hear the gear going to place, when put in reverse, I can hear my tranmission going to gear, but nothing, seem like in neutral. took it to dealer and when they dropped the pan, saw some parts lying on the pan. All forward gears are working tho.
Go to my thread where I started this as I know you will need a replacement tranny unless it is still under warranty. If it is not under warranty, I would advise you to buy a replacement tranny from http://www.thefastman.com . Their trannys are built like a brick and possibly will outlast the life of the Durango. Much Much cheaper than dealer too!

Tranny's are 1st Gen Durango's weak link. Mine went out and I am sitting on 82k miles.

As Ken stated these trannys are garbage. I lost mine at 35k miles. As long as you get a quality built or swap it out for an NV4500 (ram manual tranny) you will be good. If/when my tranny goes again I will be swapping the manual in there and have a nice light tranny that I have full control over.
