Default Problems with my D

Hi,
Got a couple of issues with my 1999 5.9l D here in sunny Saudi Arabia...
Firstly the engine is "whistling" at me. I can hear it most when, if you rev the engine and then let off, as the engine noise declines there is a whistle which also declines. It seems to be coming from the area of the inlet manifold. I wondered if I have an air leak somewhere.
Secondly, I keep finding acid on top of the battery. The battery is is only about 9 months old and a Mopar replacement. Temperatures here hit 50 deg Cent during day time and this puts massive stress on vehicles and I figured the acid was boiling in the battery. I replaced the sensor which detects the battery temperature and tells the computer to charge...I admit it was out of a scrap yard wreck...but no dice...
I'll buy a brand new sensor but I wondered if anyone had similar experieices...
Thanks....Chris

Intake manifold gasket maybe leaking. This was a common problem with dodge V8"s and V10. Try spraying water on the manifold while running and hear for the whistle, if it stops you found the problem. Also ck the O-ring around the throttle body.
