I tried one, it was not a K/N or any other overpriced thing. But it seemed that yes it ran differently, more noise which made me want to step on it more no mileage there. But when I settled down I actually lost mileage, a mechanic at the dealership when I was getting a oil change saw it as he was walking by, asked me some questions then told me that they may work for performance but mileage most people claim they get worse mileage. He said more air the computer says more gas........and the problem begins.

This may sound stupid. But can you use ram air on a 4.7 injected engine???????? Spicificly a 2000 D SLT. If soand anyone has one send pics.

I looked under the hood and can't figure out how to get a duct to the front. It's less than 3" between the radiator and the cast aluminum thing with cooling fins on top and a big plug on the back, whatever it is. And the 2 airconditionig tubes are right in the middle.

Thanks

If you have a 2000 model, it will work.

If one increases air flow into or out of an engine more horse power and torque can be made. If more air gets into the cylinder more fuel is going to get into the cylinder. But the computer is going to impliment it correctly with fuel equiling more power out of every stroke. Thus the more power being made will help propel the vehical easyer. Not to mention keeping it cooler which means less wear on both engine and trans.

In other words, just crusing you are going to get better fuel mileage, power, and torque when you need it. Less strain on engineparts. Less fuel is needed to get up and going because the vehical is making more horse power and torque.

Now if you are like me my right foot is heavyer that my left incorporating bad fuel mileage. But this is just me.

It took some doing, but I was able to pull out the elbow all the way out of the airbox.

Pull the airbox up off of it's mounting and it makes it a lot easier to remove the elbow.

i know this might sound like a stupid thing to ask, but has anyone thought of or tried hooking one of those small air matress pumps up to their intake? do you think it would be possible, if you ran the cord into the cabin and plugged it in when you drove?

Sounds like an electric supercharger to me. No I wouldn't bother it may actually cause more of a restriction than anything else. I've heard of people hooking up leafblowers check it out on youtube.

your right, i know it would probably block airflow if you were to put it over the existing opening, but if you were to create another hole for the pump would it work?
