Milky pink residue- coolant leak???
I have a pink milky residue slinging off the waterpump and fanblades area. Would this be coolant or somekind of fanclutch substance? I always thought coolant was yellow-green. The Durango is not over heating nor running hot however the "check Guages" light came on yesterday. Forgive my ignorance. I have not really worked on cars in the last 10 years.
Thanks

Interesting, I'll check the tranny fluid for water however ts not oily at all and the tranny is functioning perfectly (knock on wood). I would say it looks like a chalky substance and the color of bubble gum and it seems to be coming from the waterpump. Do they use red antifreeze in these? If so maybe my pump is leaking?

What year is your D???? Somewhere in 02-04, they started using a pink long life coolant. my wifes 05GCV has this.
Sounds like your water pump might be leaking.

depends on the year, some use green and some use red. Look at the recovey bottle, if there nothing on the cap, use green. if it does use red.

My D'go is a 2003 with a 5.9l.
The cap says nothing about "red" or "long-life" coolant. Are they compatible?
I cannot actually see anything leaking at the waterpump however it is pretty cramped in there and there seems to be fresh "spray" around after driving it for 15 minutes or so. It is definitely pink when it dries so I am assuming it is red coolant.
Do our fanclutched have fluid in them or are they totally mechanical?
It looks like a pain in the butt to change this water pump. Any insight on the labor?
