Everybody is going to have their own opinion, but most aftermarket mufflers are all really good for flow. So really it comes down to your personal preferance. My best advice is to go to Youtube, and just listen to exhaust clips.

generally Magnaflow will have a good deep mellow tone and low interior resonance
flowmaster tend to be louder and less "refined"
cherry bomb are still louder and are raspy
i have never heard an aero turbine, but check it out for yourself. Youtube is a great tool.

i wentwith aflowmaster super 40e for good low rpm rumble, and ridiculously loud WOT. very loud on cold starts, but well worth it in my books.

If you want tru duals and havea nice oem bolt on look, check out GSM products. They make a bolt on true dual with X over pipe and twin mufflers. Pricey tho.

For cheap good upgrades, I would consider the following.

1. K&N drop in filter $50
2. Fastman 52mm throttle body $225
3. Mangaflow or Flowmaster single in dual out muffler ???
4. Hypertech III programmer (if you have 5.2/5.9) $299

One thing some users point out about custom fabbing dual exhaust is to make sure you customize it all the way back to the exhaust manifold. The oem pipes coming out of the manifolds and where they join together, the tube is very small, and say that is a major constrictor of air flow. Alot of users reports after the changeout with some good size 2.5 inch pipe, performance was a good improvement.

Alright Kensai,

As always I can trust you to give me a good response. I already have a K&N and a Superchips programer. I am already ordering a 52MM TB from Fastman, and I am looking at a Magnaflow, sonow what do you recommend for the header? Ceramic coated shorty stainless, do you have a brand or type to recommend?

Headers are one area I don't have much experience in for the Durango as I am not a big fan of using headers only because I had no luck with them as far as durability. When I had my little toyota truck, I went thru 4 sets of headers and all for of them are various brands. Cannot remember some of the names but what happens is after a certain amount of time say 1.5 years avg, the collector plate where the 4 exhaust tubes prematurely wears out and then leaks. All for of these sets of headers, the leak is right on center so you cannot even re-weld the leak. After my 4th header set, I gave up, I re-installed my OEM cast iron manifolds and never had a problem with them since.

Maybe with the Durango, it may be different. But I don't want to repeat that costly and inconvinent path again.

But one thing is certain, get the ceramic type, it'll last you many times longer than stainless steel. Ceramics provide better heat dissipation will last longer than stainless.

Fastman TB - Correct

Headers, get a set of PPH headers. Hard to find, excellent to own. There is a set on sale at DurangoClub.com... look up user DCDAD

PPH was the maker for the Mopar header for our rigs. Mopar stopped selling them when there were no more 5.9Ls so the PPHs only get produced when there is large enough numbers for a group buy every year or so.

Ok a couple questions on the headers. First are there any emissions problems with these or will they still pass? Second if I can't get a set from DCDAD or a group buywhat is my next best option? Gibson? Ok and new question where can I get an M1 and what should I pay. I noticed some on EBAY not too enthused about this idea, but just curious what I am looking for and where to get it. Thanks again. Trying to get all this purchased and shipped before I return to the states. Lots of hard earned savings going into long awaited mods.

I think everything depends on your price range and your knowledge. There's going to be people on here that will tell you to get a K&N,headers, and a M1. That's going to cost at least $1,000 or more. If you know how to install a cam, it will cost $500 or less and it'll give you more power than all of those put together. I just want to say that "M1" is over-rated. My ported/polished "keg" intake makes more power. (dyno proven!) Gibson headers are good but expensive. And yes you will pass emissions. And as far as the fastman throttle body goes, everyone gets them because they're cheaper than lets say Holley or Hughes Engines. I'm not saying they're better... I personally think a hypertech or superchips is a waste of money. I gained ~7rwhp on a dyno using a hypertech...definately not worth it. If your looking to get some power out of your vehicle:

If you have alot of $$$$$!!!!
1.Ati Procharger (enough said!)
2.Forged internals
3.Performance heads,intake,cam,ecu,ignition,etc!
4.See ya at the dragstrip![sm=escape.gif]

If you have some $$$!
1.Install a performance camshaft and valve springs
2.Install a Edelbrock FI Airgap intake from Hughes Engines
3.Install headers and 3" exhaust with performance muffler
4.K&N or other performance air filter
5.Port & polish your heads(get them milled)and install bigger valves
5.Reflash the ECU
7.Roast the tires![sm=happybounce.gif]

If you want power but your limited on $$$.
1.Port/polish your intake/heads,cut the runners to to 13-14"
2.Install a cam (cheaper than crappy 1.7 roller rockers!)
3.SMILE!
