leaking exhaust manifold
the passenger side exhaust manifold must have a massive crack in it,due to the incredible noise coming from it when they're cold. Would a hole in the gasket cause the same effect, that is loud when cold, but quiet when the enigne and exhaust warms up? oh, btw its a 2000 4.7L
I don't know which direction I want to go. either headers, a junk yard, or try a liquid/compound sealant. I will have the funds soon, but I porlly won't do anything about it for a while, untill INEED to replace it.
Does anybody know of an exhaust sealent that actually works?? my roomate has had bad luck wiht his Civic,3 different compounds, the best of which lasted 5 days, and his crack doesnt seem as bad as mine.
Just curious as to what you would do about it??

Ck the back of the heat shield and see if is loose. if it is the two rear bolts have broken and you need to replace them, and the exhaustmanifold gasket too.
naw the heat shield is fine, but the manifold bolts are plenty rusty, not gonna be fun getting those manifolds off...
I don't know if the manifold is cracked, or if the gasket is torn.....either way its making the noise of a manifold leak

I would verify a cracked manifold asap... if it is, it can cause problems with your head. best to get it fixed asap. we have a Pick-n-Pull yards around here where you can get a manifold for under $20 bux. might be worth it to look in your area. if you find one, check for the 4.7 jeeps manifolds. they should be the same.
