Default 98 Inner tie rods

Failed inspection in Maryland because of upper ball joints and inner tie rods.
Found procedures for upper ball joint replacements but nothing on inner tie rods.
Doesn't look like a problem for ball joints.
Need help on the tie rods.
Thanks

If you have a rack n pinion, just replace the rack with a reman. Unless you have the long tube sockets to replace the tie rods.

Just bust off the outers, remove the dust boots and then break the inners loose with a pipe wrench. Both sides use RH threads.Turn the wheel all the way to each side so you can get at them. About the easiest inner tie rods out there on a R&P gear setup.

I agree. This is a simple fix. You need a tie rod end separator. It looks like a big tuning fork. Mark the threads and replace. Get a alignment.

I'll only use pickle forks if I am replacing the part. They destroy the boots. AFAIK, he's keeping the outers.

Just take the nut off and smack the side of the knuckle nearest the point where the tie rod goes through with a small sledge hammer a few times. It'll pop out.
