Ck your fluid level 1st and drive it, If the trans is still giving you shifting problems it maybe time for a overhaul. If it shfts fine then repair the leak.

Have this whinning sound just in reverse (sounds like a power steering low on fluid) same sound. Has anyone experience this problem?
2000 D has 75000 miles on it hope the tranny is not going out on me. Serviced the tranny about 6000 miles ago found no unusal metal on filter.
Any info appreciated.

I am having the same issues with my 98'. It started out with a whining in reverse but then worsened to shifting problems. The truck when shifted into D will not move or try to move til it is rev'ed to 3K or so then it almost feels like it slips in and out of gear. This occurs in all gears 1 2 & D. The trans. fluid is good and doesnt have a burnt smell. No codes. Is this issue possible a electronic problem?

WOW!

Lots of problems.
Most of these problems can be solved by simply doing regular service by a trusted shop. The main thing is that you make sure the right fluid is installed. Most shops including places like Jiffy Lube and other fast drive up shops put fluid in that is multi purpose fluid. This fluid will blow your trans. I don't care what they say! Even a top off of this fluid will screw your trans up. One great thing is to install a cooler other than the one that comes on the OEM.

I have great info all over the durango 1st generation threads. Do a search under my name! Things to look for, things to do, exactly these same questions. It helps to do a search on transmissions, trans, or tranys. [sm=icon_stickpoke.gif]
