Have anyone towing 7k lbs enclosed trailer? Any issue?

99 5.9 here, factory towing package 12bolt etc etc, truck empty trailer 8000lbsnever had a problem. Others will chime in shortly.

 

Someone please check me, but i think the 99 5.9 had a capacity of 7300 by the book.

Do you know the gear ratio of your Durango?

 

3.92 stock 4.10 aftermarket.

Np, all towing i've ever done was with the stockers. Now that am lifted up with 33x12.50 being pushed, a 4.10 is necessary

 

I have the 5.9L, 2wd with the 3.55 rear gears. I've had between 4k and 5k behind me a few times. It does ok but I wouldn't want to doit much with those gears.I plan on getting carrying that much around more in the future but I am going to swap the gears for some 4.55s and get a shift kit from Fastman for the tranny before I do much more towing like that.

 

I have a 98 with 5.9 and pulled a loaded down enclosed trailer.. no problems.. I think the thing to worry about when towing more than if it will pysicaly pulling it is will the durangos breaks stop the trailer and the durango in a safe distance

 

That's what trailer brakes are for!
