thinkin about gettin back in the R/T game
Just remember, AWD drivetrains adds much more weight to the Durango vs a 2wd drivetrain. You have the extra weight from the T-case, front axle and drive line. Plus, splitting the power to both front and back axles lose some power from the drivetrain due to parasitc power loss need to send power thru the extra drive line.
You can get a SLT and just add on the OEM 17 inch tires. Personally, I am looking for the aftermarket OEM 20's that is now difficult to find. No one is selling it even on Ebay at this time. I will be desparately needing to change out my tires this summer/fall and is a perfect opportunity to upgrade to the 20 inch rims.

****tt.....so the only difference is the computer..?
so the 5.9 slt and the 5.9 r/t would put out the same power if they both had the mopar pcm in?
and is the slt's engine bay the same as the r/t

I agree with Kensai that if you do not need the 4x4, then I would get a 4x2. And, you are correct that the RT package was more "show than go." There are few ifany signficant differences between the RT 5.9 and the SLT 5.9. The weight difference between the 4x4 and 4x2 is ~400 pounds. Your economy for the 4x4 will not be that much better, but you would see a difference and there is less hardware to breakdown.
