Default Need Help. Something Wrong No Power

Need some help. All of a sudden my 2000 5.9 D developed a problem. When accelerating the D does not want to go much over 2000 rpm and barely wants to move. It doesn't seem like a transmission problem because it won't over rev. Pedal to the floor it will not go above maybe 2200 rpm. In park at idle it will revto redline tough.

Last night I changed engine oil and cleaned the throttle body by spraying STP cleaner as directed. Nothing alse has changed. I've tried adjusting the tv cable, doesn't seem to help. I tried adjusting the front band but never even got the wrench on it.

Any help would be appreciated.

How many miles on the rig??

My first guess would be a fuel pump on the way out. It can supply enough fuel for rpm runup with no engine load.

With a failing pump though, that is not the case when trying to propel the D.

Check fuel pressure and go from there.

Thanks for the response. 63,000. Never thought about the fuel pump.

I was driving around trying to figure this thing out and finally threw a code. P1762 governor pressure sensor. Maybe it is the trans.

I agree that there could be a tranny issue, but my guess is that since the motor can't make power the trans is not going to work properly either. I would still check the fuel pressure, and if thats ok then move on to the tranny.
