Converting your Durango to LPG
I was wondering if anyone has converted there Durango to Natural Gas. I have an 5.9 R/T and would like to give it a try. I am just starting to do research into it and being told I need the following parts.
Bottle
Valve
Reducer
Mixer
Oxygen Control
Oxygen Sensor Simulator
Emulator for Injectors
If anyone has instructions it would be apprecaited. I will take detailed pics once I start the conversation.
Thanks in advance.

Yep. That user's name is Denis and he is a very nice guy. Translation issues are a tad problem since he is French but he will most likely help out a lot. His LP connection was nicely installed in the drivers corner of the rear bumper. Looked like some sort of factory option!

US Government agencies bought several thousand
CNG Magnum 5.2 V8 powered 15 passenger Ram Vans
from 1995 onward
and a considerable number of these are now in Salvage Yards.
Sometime around 1998 a larger compressed gas tank was fitted,
and today even larger lightweight CNG tanks are available.

Flea:
Just curious to know what your reason for this conversion is. For quite a few years, Ford manufactured a fleet Crown Victoria that was also available for Police service.
IIRC, they dropped the option within the last year or two as it ended up being almost a 10k upgrade, and the performance for the CNG motor was nowhere near its gasoline counterpart. Additionally, the vehicles range was pretty limited, and being that it was a dedicated package, if you got too far away from a fill point you were screwed.
Thinking that CNG does not have the same power compared to an equal amount of gas, I don't think you will ever get ahead on the economy end of it.
None of this covers the dangers you may be building into your ride as far as what might happen in a crash.
Not trying to be a wet blanket on your project, just kind of wondering.

Natural gas is presently selling for about
$7 per million BTU
that is equivalent to about 80 cents per gallon of gasoline.
A gallon of typical gasoline (hurt by ethanol addition)
is now running about 107,000 to 114,000 BTU per gallon
so to put it in natural pricing terms
$3.10/ (.110 million BTU)
= $28 per million BTU
What fuel is the best bargain?
A ton of coal can be bought for $50
that has 26 million BTU in it....

Kensai:
Thanks for the link. That article is an interesting read. Still looks to me though that even if CNG is cheaper as a product, thisdoes not take into account thatyou have a limitedinfrastructure to market and deal with the special requirements it presents.
I still say that engine performance will not be the same as gasoline unless the engine and its management systems are designed for CNG from the ground up.
I do applaud any efforts to get us away from our dependance on foreign oil.
