Default ABS/Brake light

have an 03 durango r/t. ABS and brake light both came on. Braking system seems to be working, however abs sporadically doens't not kick in. Any ideas???

Most likely the rear wheel speed sensor. It's a very easy and inexpensive fix. And it's very common so i'm sure most would agree, that is the place to start.

I had the speed sensor problem on my 99 durango a few years back. I had the same lights on and the ABS would just kick in at times when it shouldn't have.

The other thing I noticed was that my speedometer wouldn't read any speeds lower than ~45mph.

I had my Durango in the shop for almost a month while they tried to figure it out.

Could also have an abs module code or a rear sensor is open. You need to pull codes.

I am having that problem on my 98 SLT. I guess I will go stick $30 in a new sensor and see if that helps. My speedo isn't registering under 15mph, and my breaking system is acting funky. When it rains or the road is slick, the front breaks don't seem to want to work and the rear are like the parking break has been pressed down (locking up the rear wheels). I am going to check and change the front pads as that was a problem I had on a Chevy camaro in the past.
