code p1391
just rebuilt top end of my 4.7. things seem great but I'm getting code p1391. I know it's a cps code, but that seems fine. Wondering does comp need a chance to realize the truck has been rebuilt or what? Hydra, I know you know the answer to this one.

I would disconect the battery. Hold down the brakes (about 30 sec) so the light would normally turn on. This will reset the system. Replace the cables and you need to drive the thing about 45 miles for a complete reset. During this reset it is nice to cycle the ignition 12 times.
Now I don't know the code you have there. The p1391.
This is not a code #. I have posted the Index here at the begining 1st generation threads. https://dodgeforum.com/m_614377/tm.htm
Lets re-read your code so we can match it up.

hydra, that code had something to do with the cps (or so I've found on other forums online). We reset it via the snapon computer my friend/mechanic has. It kept coming back. I guess maybe it just needed to be driven. The code went away on it's own.

I have a 98 Dodge Dakota in which they rebuilt the top engine portion under the used vehicle warranty when I bought it. Since then, the "check engine ight" has been lit and the code it gives is P1391. The truck starts perfectly and runs great even in very cold weather. Any input as to what it can be? I live in NY state (unfortunately) where you fail inspection when your check engine light is lit. Thanks for any input and help.
