Sounds to me like a 5.2 or 5.9 motor with the infamous belly pan gasket issue. We know that this causes pinging/knocking under load.

Ben:
Give us more info and an update if you want help.

Ben:

Thanks for the additional info. Answering a querie like this usually requires quite abit of information.

When does the noise occur?? Is it all the time, or just at certain times. How long have you had it, and do you know any of its service history??

While we are at this, get a flashlight, remove the air hat on top of the throttle body and look down inside there. Do you see wetness or oil???

Could just be crapy gas. The R/T uses premo gas only.

Hydra:

IIRC, only the 00 R/T required premium fuel. 01 and up could make use of it, but did not require it. At any rate the engine should not run that poorly on the lower grades. Under load is where you would see the difference.

n8ech,

Dude it is a 00 R/T!

I have seen more problems with the tunes and fuel including just companies with the R/T.

Hydra:

Mea Culpa on it being a double ought R/T. Like yourself, I find that I reply to so many of these posts that I confuse one with the other sometimes!!!!!!
